Why New Hampshire?

Believe me, I hear you. I wouldn’t think about taking a hiking vacation to New Hampshire if I hadn’t spent countless hours and miles hiking in the White Mountains witnessing their magic with my own two eyes.

The White Mountains of New Hampshire are stunning in their rugged beauty. They are frequently underestimated for both their splendor and difficulty given their limited hight and relative stats, but these trails have never heard of a switchback.

There is a special type of therapeutic beauty that happens when women hike together in these mountains. The repetition of step after step in stunning scenery is like miracle grow for friendship, laughter and personal exploration.

I have selected some of the best hikes with sweeping views, the hikes that I keep coming back to season after season to make this a can’t-miss hiking trip. Add in charming New Hampshire towns, independently owned eateries and an afternoon exploring Boston and this is a trip you won’t stop talking about.

Our Itinerary

  • Day 1

We will all meet up near Logan Airport in Boston on 9/28 by 3 pm and drive up to the White Mountains to get settled into out accommodations.

Our 1st full day will start off with a bang and one of my favorite hikes that I keep coming back to in all seasons. Mount Pierce. It is a steady trail that leads to spectacular views with a high mountain hut where we can grab coffee, cookies or delicious soup with a side of bread. Depending on how we are feeling, we will have the option to hike along the ridge to Mount Eisenhower.

6 miles with 2,400 feet of elevation gain for Mount Pierce alone or 9.3 miles with 3,400 feet of elevation gain for both Pierce and Eisenhower.

  • Day 2

We will wake up bright and early on 9/29 because Franconia Ridge Loop here we come! This might be the most popular and well known hike in the White Mountains, for good reason. It is more challenging than its stats might suggest but well worth the effort with 3 miles of stunning ridge-line hiking. There is another mountain hut where we can rest, refill waters and enjoy a homemade snack about 2/3 through the hike.

Even though this trail is under 10 miles with 3,800 feet of elevation gain, it can take between 8-10 hours to complete.

  • Day 3

We have options for 10/1 that include a bigger rugged hike with epic views that will challenge your knees and ankles or two smaller waterrfall hikes that are still gorgeous and would allow for a little more rest after our hike the day prior.

There are no wrong choices! Either way we will drive the Kancamagus Highway and have dinner in the charming town of North Conway.

Under 3 miles between two hikes for a chill day or 7.5 miles with 4000 feet of elevation gain if the group wants a day with no chill

  • Day 4

We will kick off our last full day 10/2 together with a quick hike up Middle Sugarloaf to watch the sun rise over the mountains. After a relaxed post-hike breakfast, we will check out of our New Hampshire hotel. We will check out one last very easy hike, Artist Bluff, before heading back to Boston.

We have a casual late afternoon food tour of Boston's North End before crashing at our Boston hotel for the night.

On 10/3 our last morning will include one last hotel breakfast together as guests head off to the airport and start dreaming about our next adventure together.

2.7 miles with 890 feet of elevation gain for Middle Sugarloaf

0.5 miles with 400 feet of elevation gain for Artist Bluff
