Why Nicaragua?
I first visited Nicaragua with my dad and sisters when I was in college as an after thought on a family vacation to Costa Rica. We all immediately agreed that we should have spent the majority of our vacation in Nicaragua. It has all the beauty, culture, food and adventure without the prices, tourists and chains we could find back home. Everything about the country drew us in and we returned repeatedly over the last twenty years.
The mix of wild nature, volcanos, chill beach towns with perfect waves, old colonial cities, and warm welcoming people makes Nicaragua the perfect place for any adventurous spirit to explore. This trip will just scratch the surface and I know you will want to come back with your family and friends.

Our Itinerary

Day 1
After settling into our villa on the 22nd, we will kick off our trip with a morning getting to know San Juan del Sur where we will visit the best lookouts and have lunch on the beach. Think fresh fish and coconuts, delicious.
In the afternoon we have a surf lesson with the best teachers on a small beach with perfect beginner waves. Show up ready to learn and enjoy cold cervezas on the beach afterwards.

Day 2
We will wake up bright and early to head to Granada, a beautifully charming city full of brightly colored buildings for a day trip. We will visit Laguna de Apoyo, Masaya market, churches and museums of Granada city and a boat tour of Isletas de Granada. Be ready for a full day experience of culture and nature.
If Masaya Volcano is open, we will include a visit too!

Day 3
Wake up ready for adventure with a morning in the jungle with a zip-line canopy tour. Rappel, swing and zip through the trees with views of the ocean. Enjoy the biodiversity and get out of your comfort zone!
The afternoon will include a yoga class at our villa and plenty of time to chill on the beach or by the pool. Did I mention our ocean-front villa has a pool? If you would like a massage, we can arrange them at our villa for an extra (reasonable) fee.

Day 4
We will spend our last full day together on the water on a private catamaran exploring beaches, drinking frozen beverages, swimming, sailing and relaxing. There is potential to see marine life and enjoy fresh caught fish but only fun is guaranteed.
Our last morning will include one final breakfast together before we head off to the airport and start dreaming about our next adventure trips.

Who is this trip for?
Women 21+ who have a sense of adventure and who want to connect with themselves and meet other adventurous women! If you want to try new things, experience the beauty that is Nicaragua, develop a bond with women who started out as strangers, this trip is for you!
Is Nicaragua safe?
There are ways to travel smart using common sense like avoiding the biggest cities, not walking alone at night or leaving belongings unattended.
We will be staying in a house with security and traveling with local guides during our stay. While we will be having a blast together, we will not go out to bars, stay out late or otherwise participate in reckless behavior.
Travel insurance is required.

What if I don’t hike like you do?
Not to worry, this isn’t a hiking trip! Although I am planning other hiking trips, this ain’t that. You should have a baseline of physical fitness and be prepared for active days. The willingness to try new things is most important.
What if I sign up now and can’t come?
Things happen all the time, I get it. While I can not offer immediate refunds or cancelations, I will make every effort to resell your spot on the trip and refund you as soon as the spot is filled by someone else. If unforeseen circumstances arise and the trip needs to be canceled, I will issue refunds or reschedule the trip for later in 2025 or 2026.
Do I have to pay all at once?
Nope! All that is necessary to secure your spot is a $500 deposit. The balance will be due by November1st. You are welcome to pay the balance in installments or all at once.
Do I need to book with a friend or can I come by myself?
Not at all! That is one of the awesome benefits to joining a group trip like this: the opportunity to make new friends! You are welcome to book with a friend if you the stars align and you both want in on this trip. If you and a friend want to come together and are willing to share a queen bed, please reserve one spot and contact me directly for very discounted pricing on the second spot.
I can’t make this trip, when is the next one?
I am working on it! I would love to host a handful of trips a year for adventurous women and I am actively plotting one cozy fall retreat and a few more for the summer and fall of 2025 and more retreats for 2026.
